MAYANA NASYBULLOVA

Mayana Nasybullova (b. 1989) is a sculptor and installation artist hailing from Serov. With the help of plaster, silicone, and resin, she captures and explores the contemporary as well as mechanisms of personal and collective memory and its connection to cultural artefacts. By choosing iconic symbols of the Soviet past and contemporary Russia, she explores the phenomenon of totemism—a choice of symbolic objects present in every home. She was a participant of the Garage Triennial of Contemporary Art in 2017.
